If you are anything like me, you can get excited about most business ideas. Lots of businesses sound like a great idea with a potential to make a lot of money. But, there are many factors that determine if an idea that became a business can be a successful franchise brand that is scalable.
The financials have to be solid. The proof is in the performance. But, even then, you have to dig deep to add context to the numbers.
You have to be able to answer the question, is this the right investment specifically to achieve MY FINANCIAL GOALS?
Even if the financials hit your target, what role will you have to play to achieve your financial goal? What do you want to do every day? With our without staff? Certain industries?
It may seem corny, but I always ask my clients to consider this: when you get out of bed every morning, are you going to dread going to your business or are you going to feel energized by the impact you and your business are making.
You get to make the choice! Choosing the wrong business can be a disaster! You need to be able to determine YOUR BEST ROLE as a business owner.
The really hard part in all of this? Clicking through thousands of brands online to try to find the perfect business. Then, getting bombarded with calls, texts and emails.

In this FREE consultation, we learn about you—your goals, your motivations, what drives you to succeed. We confirm what makes sense financially---your investment level and the industries open to that investment.

You will start to learn more about each franchise and work with us to determine which ones you may want to research in more detail.

Once we have helped you narrow your search, you will start an in-depth examination of the franchise business model going step-by-step through the franchise company’s process.
We will put you in direct contact with a Franchise Development Representative from the specific brand. They are assigned to work with you through your due diligence learning about the brand.
In this process, you will learn about the brand, the unit economics, review the Franchise Disclosure Document (FDD), talk with other franchisees for their feedback and experience with the brand as well as multiple representatives from the brand.
During this due diligence process as you are trying to determine if you want to buy the brand, the brand is also trying to determine if you'll be approved to become a franchisee.
We will continue to work together so I can help you to be a well-prepared candidate for each step in the process and to make sure you are getting all the information you need from the brand.
It is normal during the due diligence process to determine that the brand is not quite a perfect match.
That is ok!
You have options and it is normal to consider more than one brand and to compare them. You can do the due diligence process for as many brands as it takes to find the perfect match.
After you have thoroughly researched the best match for your franchise business -and- the franchisor agrees that you are a fit for their team, you will be invited to Discovery Day or Meet-the-Team Day where you will meet face-to-face with the corporate franchise partners.
This is often where you will meet with executives from the brand as well as representatives from the vendors that the brand partners with to provide business support services to the franchisees. The "home office" often has samples of the products, services and equipment for your to see first-hand. It is a great place to meet the corporate team who will be supporting you as a future franchisee.
During Disovery Day or a short time after, the brand will decide if they will offer your the opportunity to purchase the franchise and to become a franchisee. Usually, there is a reasonable time period for you to make the decision to become a franchisee. We advise that before entering into a franchise agreement that you seek legal counsel and confer with other business professionals such as your CPA.
If you decide to purchase the franchise, you will sign a franchise agreement and pay the initial franchise fee. Soon after, you will begin an onboarding process which typically involves training and the steps you will need to take to get your franchise business open and operational.
Discovery Day, the franchise agreement and the franchise fee are the final steps in being awarded a franchise business—but, the first step in achieving your dream of franchise business ownership!
